Named after Queen Adelaide, this city feels like a perfect mix of heritage and “chill.” There’s a cool bit of history in the parklands that circle the center: they were originally built so wide that no 19th-century cannon could fire across them. Now, instead of soldiers, you’ll find joggers and picnic-goers.
After exploring the gardens, I headed to Rundle Mall to join the crowds. While the mall is great for a shop, definitely check out the side streets for the nightlife. My personal favorite find was Jennie Wine Bar on Peel Street. It’s this intimate, “enoteca-style” spot tucked into the laneway where the staff really know their stuff. I highly recommend grabbing a glass of their fortnightly rotating wine and pairing it with some fresh oysters or their wagyu bresaola—it’s the perfect way to soak up that cozy, local energy.
