All Good Things: The Final Odometer and the Long Flight Home

After 91 incredible days on the road, it was finally time to play a high-stakes game of “Tetris” with my gear and pack the bags for the last time. Looking back at the data, the sheer scale of this journey is hard to wrap my head around.

In those 91 days, I pushed the RedSands rig across 11,700 km of Australian soil. That adds up to a staggering 165 hours spent behind the wheel—nearly an entire week of my life lived purely in the driver’s seat! My personal record for the trip? A massive 982 km in a single day.

But as the saying goes, every journey must eventually come to an end. I made it to the airport just in time to catch Flight SQ214 with Singapore Airlines. We took off from Perth right on schedule at 5:30 pm, watching the Australian coastline shrink into the sunset as we headed toward Singapore.

I officially touched down back home on Day 92. Like every epic adventure, it feels like it was far too short, but there is something special about seeing friends and family again and finally sharing these stories in person.

The Verdict: Australia, you were everything I hoped for and a whole lot more.
